Coastlands Aquatic Centre
Whether you're looking for swimming lessons or to be swim fit, our Coastlands Aquatic Centre caters for all ages and aquatic abilities. It has a translucent roof, which creates the feeling of swimming in an outdoor pool while generating heat and reducing energy costs.
For fun whatever the weather, join in our SPLASH! sessions, book a birthday party at our onsite Plunge cafe, and check out our Aquafitness programme and upcoming events.

Note
To ensure all customers have vacated the facility before the pool closes for the night, you must be out of all pools and spa 15 minutes before closing time.
Our facilities
Our 25 x 25 metre lane pool with a moveable floor is heated to 28 degrees, and has removable ramp access for swimming events.
Only those 8 years and over are allowed in the deep water (2.4 metres). To ensure everyone who visits our centre has fun in a safe environment, all children aged 8 to 12 years who wish to swim in the deep water (2.4 metres) must pass a swim test.
Our smaller programmes pool with ramp access is heated to a water temperature of 32°c, and with a depth of 1.2 metres.
It's great for children under 8 and is used for swimming lessons, hydrotherapy type activities, special needs groups and kids play sessions during SPLASH.
Babies and toddlers love our toddler pool with fun water features and waterfall wall.
Swim nappies must be worn by all babies and toddlers under four. These can be purchased at cost price from reception.
Hydroslide can be opened on request.
Under 5s must be accompanied down the slide by an adult 16 years or older.
5–7 years can use the slide by themselves, with an adult waiting at the bottom.
8 years and over can use the slide by themselves.
Our flying fox, Te Manu Rere, has taken off.
Te Manu Rere is in flight 1–4pm during weekend SPLASH events, and school holidays.
It's open to use for those 8 years and older as long as they have passed the deep-water test.
The maximum weight limit is 130 kilograms.
Spa and sauna for over 16 year olds only.
You can also get your coffee fix or refuel after your swimming or AquaFit session at our onsite cafe, and pick up essentials at our swim shop. We also have meeting room available for hire for community events.

We have an all-inclusive accessibility policy including ramp access into pools, disabled change rooms and waterproof wheelchairs. Read more about accessibility at our pools.

From 24 April 2023, you'll need to have six swimmers per lane per hour to hire a lane during Monday to Friday:
- 5.30–7.30am
- 4.30–6.30pm
Lane hire will also depend on lane availability.
There are nine swimming lanes available; three will always remain available to the public, except under special circumstances like the whole pool being hired, or other scheduled community events or activities.
This lane hire criteria will give a fairer, more transparent and equitable offering for all our users.
We'll look at lane hire requests against these criteria at the end of Term 4 each year, based on attendance reporting for the year just completed. We reserve the right to amend the criteria at this time.
